Malvasia is the project of actress and director Assun Planas, who has been active for almost two decades.
The artistic and professional proposal of the production company is that of artisan work, retail, and the care and unique personalized treatment of each and every one of the projects carried out.
The line of work initiated by the production company is strongly marked by interdisciplinarity, specifically, that established between the performing arts and literature.
The power of the word as a link between the text and the interpretation. The path that goes from the author to the public, passing through the performer and the entire team.
Of the works developed by Assun Planas with her production company Malvasía, it is worth mentioning works made from already existing literary texts, such as 'La sorpresa del roscón', by Elvira Lindo, directed by Paco Mir, and premiered at the Sitges Festival 2005 having done several seasons in Barcelona and Madrid (the outdoor room) as well as a tour of the Spanish state and Lisbon, 'Approximate Transcription', based on a text by María Antonia Oliver, recent Catalan Letters Honor Award, premiered at the Espai Brossa in Barcelona in 2009, or 'La dona que mirava la tele', based on the homonymous work by the poet Dolors Miquel, premiered at the Círcol Maldà in Barcelona in 2011.
The latest project is the successful show 'Transbord', by the young author Sebastià Portell, having been co-produced by the Fundación Teatro Principal de Palma with two seasons in Barcelona behind it: Teatro Akadèmia and Teatro de la Gleva, with a tour of Catalonia, Baleares and Levante, as well as its presentation in Madrid at the Blanquerna space. This work also responds to the maintenance of the taste of Assun Planas and the producer for texts with literary roots or with a certain lyrical component, and, on the other hand, it also develops a path started with the work of three female authors, which is the reflection , in a more or less manifest way, around concepts such as gender or the construction and representation of human identities.
